Living here in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, you really do learn to appreciate when it rains and ENJOY it! The summer months are when we get a majority of our rain. Called monsoons, they can be pretty violent at times. Humidity raises throughout the day and then the wind starts blowing (enough that it will blow your patio furniture over) and then the rain comes, blowing in sideways most times; thunder and lightening. When it's a really big storm, you don't want to be out on the roads, the rain will come down so hard you can't see; the washes fill up and run. You are stuck on the other side of that wash until it goes down (no crossing a flooded wash! your car WILL BE washed away). Of course, not every rain we get does that and sometimes it is a nice soft gentle rain, one you could go out and play in...and maybe, just maybe, see your reflection in the little bit of rain that dropped; just enough to wet the patio. Then the sun comes out and dries it up immediately. You would never have known it had just rain except for a little bit of photographic evidence!
